Congrats - You're a DAWG!
The Mud Dawg family continues to grow and you are now part of our history! Thanks for dedicating your focus, time and effort to making us a better program. Here are some things to know as you start the next baseball season with us:
General Season Schedule:
October - Fund raising and tournament review begins
January - Winter warehouse practices will begin & player fees due
March/April - Tournaments will begin and outdoor practices commence
April thru June - Primary tournament season (may be tourneys outside these months)
August - Post season celebration and open position tryouts
Costs:
Player fees will run anywhere from $700 to $1100+, depending on the number of tournaments your coach has agreed upon with the families. Typically younger teams play less tournaments as they learn, develop and get used to the fatigue of travel baseball.
Player fees COVER admin costs, insurance, 12 warehouse sessions, picture session & team banner, 2 new jerseys & 2 new hats, revenue sharing from (tournaments, fundraising & sponsorships), premium baseball training, MD brand, pride & social media.
Player fees DO NOT COVER travel cost and lodging for players or families, baseball gear or baseball pants - sorry - we go through too many of them :)
Fund raising will be offered by the organization to help supplement or completely fund the baseball season for each team. Details will be presented to the families in October.
NOTE: Mud Dawgs is a 501c3 NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION and all money goes back to the players and Mud Dawg events.
Fees are due by start of winter practices.
Practices:
Winter practices are organized by the organization and will be held in the Missoula Mavericks Warehouse. Typically, this includes one 1.5 hour practice per week plus an optional 1.5 hour open practice to all of the Mud Dawg teams. Once spring hits, it will be up to the individual coaches to organize and conduct practices outdoors. You can expect high level training drills with a focus on repetitions and quality baseball fundamentals.
NOTE: It's strongly recommended that kids sign up and play Little League. Most of the kids in Mud Dawgs do, which means there will be limited Mud Dawg practices during the Little League season due to field, coach and player availability. Little League reps are important for continued development during the LL season.
Tournaments and Games:
Mud Dawgs teams typically end up playing anywhere between 5 and 10 tournaments with younger teams playing less and older teams playing more. A 10 tournament season will equate to about 50 games, maybe more. Most tournaments will be played in Montana, with a possibility of one or two out-of-state tournaments. All players are expected to be at all tournaments unless other arrangements are made with the coach. Parents are responsible for transportation, lodging and food.
Team Communication:
Coaches are responsible for communication to their players. Typically this is done through comm apps such as GroupMe or TeamSnap. If you feel like communication is not up to par, please contact the Mud Dawg Org through the channels below.
Team Uniforms and Gear:
The player fees will cover (at least) 2 jerseys and 2 hats for the kids to wear. Depending on how much money each team raises, there may be money to spend on other things like bags, extra jerseys, helmets or other items the coaches and families agree upon. However, gear such as bats, mitts, bags, batting gloves and helmets are the responsibility of families. Baseball pants are also the responsibility of the families - they get torn up and replaced too often. Mud Dawgs will provide team stickers for the kids helmets.

Codes of Conduct and Media Consent :
As a Mud Dawg, all players, parents and coaches agree to represent the organization with the utmost integrity. You will be expected to sign the codes of conduct at the start of the winter practice sessions. You can review them here:
Also, each parent will need to sign a Media Release and Consent form at the start of the season so we know who we can use and not use in social media.
